Invite-Only Kinusaiga Workshop: Thursday, August 27
Private Event by Invitation Only. Japanese patchwork with no needle and no sewing machine, all supplies provided, and you leave with a finished framed piece.
Date: Thursday, August 27 at 6pm EDT
Location: Start Small Farms HQ (Sinking Spring, PA)
Pickup currently not available
Kinusaiga is Japanese patchwork made without a needle. You press strips of fabric into grooves scored in a foam base, and the picture builds up shape by shape until it reads like a quilt. Nothing gets sewn and nothing gets glued.
In two and a half hours you'll finish one framed piece and take it home the same night.
If that evening doesn't work, the same workshop runs Sunday, August 30 from 3:00 to 5:30 pm.
What's included
All of it. The foam base, the frame, the fabric, the tools, and light refreshments while you work. All we need is you.
Who it's for
Beginners, mostly. There's no drawing, no cutting to a line, and no machine to fight with. If you can push a scrap of fabric into a groove with a butter knife, you can make one of these, and the fabric does most of the work of making it look good.
